2006 Chevrolet HHR Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Before starting the process of Fuel Rail assembly replacement you must relieve pressure from the fuel system. The air cleaner assembly must be removed first before disconnecting both the fuel feed line quick connect fitting from the Fuel Rail and the Fuel Injector harness electrical connector. Unfasten the Intake Manifold clip of the Fuel Injector harness electrical connector and then remove the Fuel Rail studs. Pull the Fuel Rail backward and upward while being careful not to damage either connector terminals or spray tips present at the Fuel Injector ends. The Fuel Rail needs to be pulled out while the fuel injectors may also require removal. New lower o-rings for the fuel injectors should be used during reinstallation followed by a lubrication step for injector tip o-rings before plunging the injectors into the cylinder head ports. Position the fuel injectors downward before inserting them into the ports with gentle pressure. Then install the Fuel Rail bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in) while connecting the Fuel Injector harness electrical connector and installing its clip to the Intake Manifold. Snap the fuel feed line quick connect fitting to the Fuel Rail after integrating the air cleaner assembly and Battery Cable reconnect. You can check for fuel leaks when you turn on the ignition with the engine powered down for two seconds, wait ten seconds before repeating the ignition-on step then examine for any fuel leakage.
