How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) in the 4L60-E/4L65-E/4L70-E automatic transmission on 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?

Start with vehicle raising and support before you can replace the VSS in a 4L60-E/4L65-E/4L70-E automatic transmission. Disconnect the VSS electrical connector followed by VSS bolt removal and VSS extraction and O-ring seal removal. First position the O-ring seal on top of the VSS . Afterwards apply a thin layer of transmission fluid to the O-ring seal before setting the VSS in its place. Tighten the VSS bolt to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.) following VSS bolt installation, then attach the VSS electrical connector . Lower the vehicle after completing installation while also topping off the fluid when needed.
