2006 Cadillac XLR Hood Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Release Hood Cable on 2006 Cadillac XLR?
A: Starting the Hood Cable replacement process requires you to open the hood then remove the front air cleaner assembly section with its associated panels before proceeding. The Hood Cable needs to be detached from the Hood Latch followed by disengaging the clips that secure the Hood Cable to the vehicle body. Begin replacement by taking away the screws securing the hood handle to the vehicle while extracting the Hood Cable grommet at the front of the dash panel before pulling out the Hood Cable from its mounting position. The new Hood Cable should go into position before inserting the Hood Cable grommet to the front of the dash panel while following the fastener notice in service precautions. Two n.m (17 lb in) torque should be the target when mounting screws to the hood handle. Placing the Hood Cable into the clips allows you to link it with the Hood Latch. Reinstall all necessary panels to which you added components and also reinstall the front air cleaner section before you close the hood.
