2006 Cadillac DTS Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2006 Cadillac DTS?
A: Always start Power Steering Pump replacement by removing the Drive Belt then placing a drain pan underneath the vehicle. First separate the power steering return hose from the Power Steering Reservoir and afterward detach the power steering pressure hose which connects to the Power Steering Pump. The sequence requires removal of Power Steering Pump mounting bolt before extracting both the Power Steering Pump and power steering pulley then Power Steering Reservoir from the vehicle. Install the Power Steering Reservoir first and then follow it up by installing the power steering pulley. Secure the Power Steering Pump on the vehicle by mounting the Power Steering Pump bolt to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) of tension. Use force of 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) to fasten the power steering pressure hose onto the Power Steering Pump before hooking the power steering return hose on the Power Steering Reservoir. The drain pan removal under the vehicle completes the process before Drive Belt installation and power steering system bleeding.
