How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 1 Sensor 1 on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?

The replacement of heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 1 starts with disconnecting its ho2s 1 electrical connector. Engine temperature below 48°c (120°F) presents difficulties for ho2s 1 removal yet using excessive force may lead to Exhaust Manifold thread damage. Remove the ho2s 1 using the heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B). Apply the special anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent to the threads of the ho2s 1 prior to installation because this graphite and glass bead mixture provides the best thread protection. Anti-seize compound comes standard with new service sensors but manual thread coating with this compound becomes necessary for sensor reinstallations. Insert the ho2s 1 into position then tighten it to 41 n.m (30 lb ft) with the heated Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-B). Finally, reconnect the ho2s 1 electrical connector.
