Recovery of refrigerant must occur as the first step before replacing the discharge hose. Start by taking out the air deflector and bolt which holds the discharge hose to the compressor and free the hose from the compressor unit. The process starts by removing bolt from the condenser after detaching discharge line from the condenser so the discharge hose can be removed along with discarding its O-ring seals. Start with lubricating new O-rings before installing the discharge hose between the compressor and tightening the discharge hose bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in). Affix the discharge hose to the condenser but start by tightening bolt to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Reattach the air deflector before the technician completes system evacuation, refrigerant recharge and evaluates all fittings through the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
