How to replace the primary cam gear and timing chain on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?

As an alternative to the timing chain and sprockets, the engine front cover is removed, followed by the right bank secondary timing chain items. Following this, remove the basic timing chain and upper guide. Re-installation is reversed with the last step being the re-installation of the engine front cover.
