2005 Buick Century Emblem Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace or repair a door emblem on 2005 Buick Century?
A: You should first tape the mounting surface to protect it and make installation marks before starting. Run the heat gun model J 25070 around the nameplate at 30-second intervals for heating. Use the plastic tool to remove the nameplate gently from the panel surface. You can remove all body panel adhesive using a disk made of the 3m(tm) scotch brite molding adhesive remover (3m(tm) p/n 07502) or an alternate product. When cleaning plastic panels use a non-abrasive cloth and soak it in vmp naphtha or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol water mixture. Mark the installation area with tape and measure 1.188 inches below the top molding and 3.156 inches from the door edge to the plate start. Work on a clean and dry surface if no nameplate location is labeled. Install the century limited nameplate in the built-in space of the door molding. The heat gun (J 25070) should warm the mounting area to 27-41°C (80-105°F) and you should check the nameplate reaches 29-32°C (85-90°F). Place the nameplate on the chosen spot by following the marks. Use steady pressure to fix it directly on the mounting area while staying away from the adhesive. Take off the covering tape from the mounting area at last.
