2005 Buick Century A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose for the accumulator tube on 2005 Buick Century?
A: The first step to replace the accumulator tube starts by recovering refrigerant. Begin by removing the air cleaner assembly followed by vacuum Brake Booster and brake pressure modulator valve bracket. You must first remove the accumulator clip until you loosen the accumulator tube nut which is attached to the accumulator before disconnecting the accumulator tube from the accumulator itself. Start by removing the accumulator tube from evaporator core block fitting bolt before separating the accumulator tube from both evaporator and accumulator tubing. Then remove the accumulator tube while discarding the o-ring seal. Installation involves mounting a new o-ring seal and accumulator tube which should be connected to the evaporator before securing the accumulator tube to evaporator core block fitting bolt while torquing it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Screw in the accumulator tube nut to its designated slot on the accumulator before torquing it to 47 n.m (35 lb ft). The installation process requires attachment of the accumulator clip following vacuum Brake Booster bracket and brake pressure modulator valve bracket as well as the air cleaner assembly. Place the a/c system under vacuum along with recharge steps followed by fitting leak detection through the application of halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
