2004 Chevrolet Venture Brake Calipers Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2004 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To replace the rear brake caliper you have to check the level of fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir; if it is past midway between the maximum-full level and the minimum allowable level, reduce. Lift and have the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel. Insert 2 nuts to hold rotor onto the hub, and put a big c-clamp on the top of the brake caliper facing the rear looking at the outboard Brake Pad and tighten it til the piston in the caliper is forced back into the caliper bore far enough to slide the caliper off the rotor. Remove the brake hose bolt and brake hose and dispose of the two copper brake hose gaskets clings to the brake brake bleeding or the brake hose end. Plug the wholes in the brake caliper and genitalia to clean the loss of fluids and contamination and to clear the dirt and corrosions near the brake hose fitting. Retrieving the brake caliper bolts (1 and 3) take off the brake caliper from the bracket. Examine the Brake Caliper Piston boot and Brake Caliper Bolt boots for cuts, tears, leaking, or worsening and change accordingly, in the event of damage. Inspect the caliper bolts and strip for corrosion or damage, including changing the Brake Caliper Bolt, bushing and boot in the case of corrosion presence. For the installation, make sure that the caliper bolt bushings and boots are correctly in place before you fasten the brake caliper to the bracket. Apply lubrication on the Brake Caliper Bolt shaft excluding the threads and on the Brake Caliper Bolt boots in the bracket also. Mount the brake caliper bolts and tighten them to 44 nm (32 ft. Lbs.), and using a flat-bladed tool, mount the brake caliper bracket boot over the shoulder of the Brake Caliper Bolt. Make the brake hose bolt slide off the brake hose end and then replace the brake hose bolt with new copper brake hose gaskets to the brake hose and install it to the brake caliper. Remove the nuts holding the rotor to the hub, tighten the tire and wheel back to the car, let the car down, and fill the master cylinder to the correct reading with fresh brake fluid. Bleed the brake system and pump the brake pedal (3/4 of a full stroke) as required to give it a firm feel, apply approximately 778 nm (175 ft lbf) brake pedal force for ten seconds and finally check the brake caliper and hydraulic brake system for leaks.
