2004 Cadillac CTS Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear wheel bearing/hub on 2004 Cadillac CTS?
A: Start by lifting and stabilizing the vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel. Then unmount and detach the brake rotor from the rear. Before proceeding disconnect the abs sensor electrical connector and detach it from the backing plate. Take out the parking brake cable bracket mounting bolts from the knuckle body to detach the parking brake cable bracket. Use the axle remover tool (J 45859) or its equivalent to disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the Wheel Bearing/hub assembly. Use the Wheel Hub remover if needed to take out the Wheel Bearing/hub and backing plate from the knuckle by removing its bolts. Following axle remover (J 45859) or equivalent removal, assemble the new Wheel Bearing/hub alongside the backing plate to the knuckle. Secure the parts with mounting bolts that should be torqued to 125 nm (92 ft. Lbs.). Put back the parking brake cable bracket after tightening both bolts to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Plug the abs sensor electrical connector into the backing plate before connecting it to the main connector. Put on a fresh wheel drive shaft nut and apply 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.) torque to it. Then place the brake rotor and tire wheel before letting the vehicle down.
