Firstly, lift and support the vehicle, also support the exhaust system. Take off the Catalytic Converter from the Muffler, and then disconnect the Muffler from the exhaust hangers. Again with a cloth dipped in the solvent, mop off all the loosened deposits from the mating surfaces of the most frequently failing parts: the Catalytic Converter gasket and the Muffler gasket. When installing the Muffler, attach it to the exhaust hangars, then re-support the exhaust system and install a new gasket for both the Catalytic Converter as well as the Muffler before attaching the Catalytic Converter to the Muffler. When you remove support from the exhaust system, lower your vehicle and check for any exhaust leaks. The Muffler is always serviced as an entire assembly, and cannot work on its own.
