  A: Begin the power recliner motor replacement in the front seat by disabling the SIR. Disassembly of the seat assembly along with its seat back trim cover needs to be completed. First remove the retainer clip from the recliner motor end of the recliner shaft and slide the recliner shaft out from the recliner motor opening of the recliner motor (outboard side) to free the motor and recliner sensor if memory seats are present. The electrical connector for the recliner motor should be disconnected from beneath the seat along with disconnecting additional electrical components for the recliner sensor if installed. Then detach the recliner sensor from its mount on the motor. Detach the fastener on the recliner motor before removing it from the seat back frame. Position the recliner motor on the seat back frame before tightening the fastener to 9 N.m while ensuring 80 lb in torque. Connect the electrical connector for the recliner motor after which you must install the recliner sensor to its designated position on the motor by attaching it properly. Reposition the recliner shaft through the recliner sensor/recliner motor before connecting the recliner sensor electrical connector in case it applies. After fitting the retaining clip onto the recliner shaft the seat back trim cover together with the seat back go into their designated positions. Finally, enable the SIR system.
