How to replace the Shift Knob and closeout boot on 2003 Cadillac CTS?

In order to change the shift knob and closeout boot, one should pick up the rear part of the retaining ring and unscrew it. Strongly turn the shift lever and use it to extract it. The new assembly should be installed by making the knob go down and attaching the retaining ring to the console. Make sure that it is fastened.
