• Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly (W/O ETC) on 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe?

  A: To remove the Throttle Body assembly (W/O ETC) to remove air intake duct then remove the accelerator control cable and cruise control cable from the Throttle Body after disconnecting then remove the vacuum hose, throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve harness connectors. Next, unscrew the Throttle Body attaching nuts and remove the Throttle Body with the gasket and dispose of the gasket by disconnecting the coolant hose and the vapor vent pipe. Carefully clean off the old gasket from the aluminum surfaces using sharp tools to avoid destroying the sealing surfaces. It is important that one does not submerge the Throttle Body simply into a cold type cleaner that works by immersion; the reason being there are certain sealing compounds applied by the factory to the throttle plate and can easily be damaged by rough solvents or brushing; instead, try a spray type cleaner, such as gm x-66a or p/n gm1052626 and a shop towel for heavy deposits. Make sure no solvent or cleaner touches the tp sensor and iac valve. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces before assembly. Mount the Throttle Body by using a new gasket, while adhering to the fastener notice in service precautions, and tighten the attaching nuts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the coolant hose to the Throttle Body and the vapor vent pipe, accelerator control cable and cruise control cable, tp sensor and iac valve electrical connectors, and the vacuum hose to the Throttle Body. Reinstall the air intake duct and with the engine off, check the accelerator pedal movement to the floor by pressing and releasing. To reset iac valve, turn on the ignition for 10 seconds followed by turning it off for 5 seconds, then start the engine to test for the idle speed.
