In order to swap the tailgate release handle on the Avalanche, loosen the handle bezel and linkage rod retainers. Unscrew the bolts that hold the handle and the tailgate spoil as well. Install new handle, attach the bolts, re-install the spoiler, re-connect the linkage rods, re-adjust the latch and re-connect the bezel.
