Starting the tailgate release handle replacement requires players to open their liftgate and then remove the trim panel. Before handling the replacement process, disconnect the actuator cable assembly from the handle then remove the back hardware on the tailgate behind the handle assembly to extract the handle assembly for replacement. Apply the new handle assembly into the tailgate. Secure it by installing the backside nuts then torque every bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in). To finish installation you must reconnect the actuator cable assembly to the handle before reinstalling the liftgate trim panel.
