2002 Cadillac Eldorado Antenna Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the power antenna mast on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: The power antenna mast replacement process begins with turning the radio ON while extending the 100 rod segment 26 mm (1 in) higher than other sections before immediately cutting power through battery removal or disconnecting radio or antenna power cables. The first step involves using a wrench or pliers to remove the finial from flat portions but pads must grip the 100 rod section to stop it from turning to prevent damage. The 100 rod remains permanently installed in its position and must stay unbent. Use a hand to take out the insulator stop and elevate the sections (3, 4) onto the 100 rod before you take out both pieces. Use the provided grease to lubricate the contactor before inserting the assembly tool (brass tube) onto the contactor to tighten its fingers. All installation tools are provided in the replacement parts package. Lower the mast assembly sections 3 and 4 down into the mast stationary tube beyond the contractor fingers after sliding them over the 100 rod section then take away the assembly tool. Screw the bottom mast down inside the stationary tube with the 100 rod section's threaded top position above the tube tops while adding the insulator stop and finial. After completing the procedure reconnect the power source while cycling the antenna mast.
