  A: When servicing and repairing the differential, particularly for front-wheel-drive vehicles, start by removing the case extension housing. Rota te the difrrential carrier so that it points out the end of the diffrrential output shaft along with the differential pinion shaft (701) pointing horizontal. Between the end of the output shaft and differential pinion shaft; insert the Axle Removal Wedge (J 42562). Tap the end of the axle removal tool with the hammer to squeeze the output shaft compression ring (512) and force the output shaft through the differential side gear. Next, discard the differential carrier (700) and use snap ring pliers in order to remove the compression ring (512) from the output shaft. Go on to remove the sun gear thrust bearing (698) from diffterringal carrier sun gear, which is most likely stuck along with the removal of diffringal carrier sun gear (697), park gear (696), internal gear thrust bearing (695) and from diffterringal carrier internal gear, and finally the sun gear shaft (689). Check for damage to the sun gear shaft (689). For installation, install the sun gear thrust bearing (698), differential carrier sun gear (697), park gear (696), internal gear thrust bearing (695), and sun gear shaft (689) into the differential carrier (700), and install the differential carrier into the case and finally the case extension housing. Also, make sure to apply a Transjel Lubricant (J 36850) as required during the process.
