- Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (24X) on 2002 Buick Century?A: Start by supporting the vehicle at a height while removing the lower air deflector to replace the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor (24X). Disconnect the sensor's electrical connection and extract the sensor from its bracket before removing the crankshaft balancer. Record the harness route and remove the bolt securing the harness together with its clip. First disconnect the bolts that secure the CKP sensor before removing the sensor itself. During installation fit the 24X crankshaft position sensor to the front cover while tightening the CKP sensor bolts to a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). First install the harness retaining clip with its bolt making sure the bolt torque reaches 10 N.m (89 lb in). First install the CKP sensor electrical connector before mounting the bracket with CKP sensor harness. Finally replace the crankshaft balancer and lower air deflector. The procedure to learn variation for the crankshaft position (CKP) system should be conducted after vehicle lowering is complete.
