  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2002 Buick Century?
    A: Refrigerant recovery requires the first step before starting replacement of the A/C Compressor hose assembly. Beginning with removal of the left front fender upper diagonal brace followed by unfastening the air cleaner assembly. You should first detach the A/C Compressor hose from the condenser by removing its A/C Compressor hose nut. Remove first the nut from the A/C Compressor hose and then free the hose from the accumulator. Rising the vehicle should be followed by A/C Compressor hose assembly nut removal from the A/C Compressor while simultaneously removing the lower air deflector. Disposition of all utilized o-rings and sealing washers must precede the removal of the A/C Compressor hose from its fitting on the A/C Compressor. New sealing washers should be placed onto the A/C Compressor hose assembly for installation purposes before connecting it to the A/C Compressor with a hose nut torque of 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Put back the lower air deflector and lower the vehicle. The installation requires applying mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil on new o-ring seals before putting them into the A/C Compressor hose assembly. Connect the A/C Compressor hose to the accumulator while torquing the hose nut up to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The A/C Compressor hose assembly should be connected to the condenser by tightening the hose nut until it reaches 16 n.m (12 lb ft). After reinstalling the air cleaner assembly and left front fender upper diagonal brace the technician must evacuate and recharge the a/c system before testing all fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
