How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (7X) on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

To replace the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (7X), get the vehicle of the ground by turning off ignition and raising the vehicle. Take off the right wheel and tire, and then twist the Steering Wheel all the way left. Disconnect the sensor electric connector, unscrewed the attaching bolt/screw and pull out the sensor from the engine. Check for wear, cracks, or leakage of the sensor if it is not being replaced. Before installation, lubricate the o-ring using clean engine oil. If it is damaged, make a replacement. Mount the sensor to the block, make sure to refer to the fastener notice in service precautions, and install the ckp sensor attaching bolt, torque it to a value of 11 n.m (97 lb in). Connect the sensor electrical connector, re-install the right tire and wheel, and lower the vehicle. Finally, do the ckp system variation learn procedure.
