How to service and repair the Flywheel on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?

In order to service and repair the flex plate, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the transmission. Unscrew the flywheel bolts, flywheel spacer, and flywheel. Wipe the bolt threads, holes, put on thread locker and refit flywheel and spacer. Lastly, replace the transmission and install the battery cable again.
