How to service and repair the Automatic Transmission Shifter on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?

Disconnection is required in the negative battery cable in order to service the automatic transmission shifter. Take off the control lever handle and console and the cable and electrical connector that connects the range select lever. Remover the control bolts and control. To install, fasten the shift control, reread the cable and connector and reattach the console.
