2000 Chevrolet Corvette Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to replace a right Exhaust Manifold requires raising and supporting the vehicle. Extract the right hand intermediate Exhaust Pipe nuts which secure the Exhaust Manifold studs before removing the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). Strategic removal of the air injection pipe (AIR) components needs to happen after the vehicle has been lowered to its lowest position. The operation includes unbolting and removing pipe with gasket. Lift the vehicle and disconnect the Spark Plug Wires from both the spark plugs along with coils to remove the spark plugs. Start by extracting the oil level indicator from its tube then remove the tube bolt before taking out the oil level indicator tube from the engine compartment. The Exhaust Manifold removal will complete the procedure by discarding the gasket. Start with Exhaust Manifold installation as the first step of assembly. The first step replaces a damaged o-ring seal on the oil level indicator tube by installing a new o-ring before placing the tube onto the engine for correct positioning. Firmly tighten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) and then attach the oil level indicator to its tube. Install the spark plugs then integrate the Spark Plug Wires to their respective locations. Proceed with the installation of air injection pipe components by placing the gasket followed by the pipe and bolts before clamping the air pipe bolts at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Once the vehicle reaches its highest position install the heated Oxygen Sensor while using the measurement tool to tighten the Exhaust Manifold studs near the intermediate pipe flange. Secure the installation with intermediate pipe flange nuts which should be tightened to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
