2000 Cadillac DeVille Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?
A: To service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer), you should give it enough time for the engine to cool and avoid the loss of coolant or injury. Inspect the coolant sensor with care, since it will damage the operation of the fuel control system. Start by draining the coolant system to some extent. Then, disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector as well as the ECT sensor is removed. For installation, place some non-hardening sealer onto the sensor threads to enhance against leaks of coolants by using P/N 1050805 or its substitute. Mount the ECT sensor firmly under the hood with the torque of 16-24N.m (12-18 lb ft). Re-attach the ECT sensor electrical connector and top up the coolant system.
