  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: Start by lifting the vehicle onto a proper lift before commencing with inner Tie Rod End replacement. First disconnect the tire and wheel before removing the lock nut securing the outer Tie Rod End. You should first loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly. The universal steering linkage puller (J24319-B) should be utilized first to detach the outer tie rod assembly from the Steering Knuckle then to remove the outer tie rod assembly from the inner tie rod assembly. The installation step starts by connecting the outer tie rod assembly to the inner tie rod without securing the jam nut before connecting the outer assembly to the Steering Knuckle and installing the lock nut to the tie rod stud while torquing it to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). When adjusting toe maintain a smooth appearance of the Rack and Pinion Boot. Lower the vehicle and put on the tire and wheel then proceed with toe alignment adjustment by tightening the jam nut against the outer tie rod until it reaches 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.).
