The first step for replacing the park brake cable requires users to release the park brake before lifting and supporting their vehicle. Disconnect the intermediate cable threads by removing the nut before removing the equalizer from the park brake cables at the rear. Then remove the intermediate cable from the front cable. Install the new intermediate cable by first connecting it to the front cable then join its end to the equalizer before putting the equalizer in place with the rear park brake cables. Secure the threaded end of the intermediate cable with a nut that should be tightened to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).
