To replace the rear oil seal or bearing, collect the tools that would be required: j 8092 driver handle (J 8092), j 21128 Axle Shaft seal installer (8.6 inch Axle) (J 21128), j 23690 Axle Shaft bearing installer (8.6 inch Axle) (J 23690), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01), j 29709 Axle Shaft bearing installer (9.5 inch Axle) (J 29709), j 29712 Axle Shaft bearing remover (9.5 inch Axle) (J 29712), j 29713 Axle Shaft start with lifting the vehicle and removing the tire and wheel assembly with the rear axle housing cover. Then take out the Axle Shaft and, with the help of j 44685 (8.6 inch axle) and j 2619-01, take out the Axle Shaft seal and bearing from the axle housing. Use the j 29712 for removing the Axle Shaft seal and its bearing for the 9.5 inch axle. To install the new components, j 23690 (8.6 inch axle) and j 29709 (9.5 inch axle) along with j 8092 can be used for installing the Axle Shaft bearing having it driven into the axle housing till the tool bottoms against the tube. Then install the Axle Shaft seal by using either the j 21128 or j 29713, drive it into the bore until it is flush with the tube. Lastly, reinstall the Axle Shaft, rear axle housing cover, tire and wheel assembly, add the rear axle, and bring the vehicle down.
