How to replace the alternator bracket on GMC Sonoma?

The process starts by detaching the negative Battery Cable before all other components like the engine cooling fan, drive belt and engine wiring harness bracket from the generator mounting bracket, drive belt tensioner and Drive Belt idler pulley need to be taken off. The generator mounting bracket can be removed by first unfastening its 3 bolts and securing nut connecting to engine then pulling the bracket free. Attach the generator mounting bracket to the Cylinder Head while using 2 bolts and a nut before tightening them to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). The generator mounting bracket requires installation of the Drive Belt idler pulley followed by the Drive Belt tensioner and engine wiring harness bracket before securing the bracket bolt at 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The installation process ends by fitting the generator then adding the Drive Belt alongside the engine cooling fan and finally connecting the negative Battery Cable.
