    To replace the inflated restraint front end discriminating sensor, disable the SIR system first. Do not hit or jolt the sensor and make sure it is adequately fixed before connecting power to prevent SIR deployment or harm. And if equipped, remove the off-road skid plate, then remove the CPA from the sensor harness connector and disconnect the harness connector from the sensor. In the body, drill out all the mounting rivets and remove the sensor of the vehicle. If the sensor mounting holes or fastenings have broken, remove and discard the incorrectly installed, then fasten the sensor with a new working rivet. If it becomes necessary to undertake the second fastener fix, remove the misinstalled rivet, enlarge the mounting holes of the lower radiator support to 9.0 mm (0.35 in), insert and properly seat the rivnut, and install the sensor with a screw. Tighten fasteners to 8.0 N.m (71 lb in). For the installation, clean the mounting surface, and install the sensor horizontally to the lower radiator support with an arrow pointing to the front of the vehicle. Lift with flexible restraint front end discriminating sensor mounting rivets (GM P/N 15715058), fasten the sensor, reconnect the harness connector and fasten the CPA. They have to adjust the tire pressure to the recommended levels in the glove compartment; reinstall the off-road skid plate, and finally turn the SIR system on.
