Before starting the 1500 series w/nys and 25/3500 series rear Brake Caliper Bracket replacement you need to check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level; drain fluid when it exceeds half the maximum to minimum mark line. After taking out the wheel you need to depress the caliper pistons by pressing a c-clamp over the housing towards the back of the pad until the pistons are fully compressed. Unbolt the brake caliper mounting points by loosening them instead of removing them. Then take out the two bracket bolts and extract the caliper bracket assembly with the brake caliper. Set the brake caliper on mechanical wire without taking off the brake hose before you replace the
Brake Pads and anti-rattle clips. After fixing the anti-rattle clips to caliper bracket, seat the brake pads inside and connect caliper to bracket. Place the brake caliper on the caliper bracket without tight force while connecting both parts. Before securing the bolts you clean the original adhesive surface and bolt threads with denatured alcohol. Use threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) on the adhesive surface and directly install both Brake Caliper Bracket bolts. Finally normalize the bolts to 300 nm (221 ft. Lbs.). Apply torque to the brake caliper bolts at 108 nm (80 ft. Lbs.), readd the tire wheel setup, and on an idle engine start, extend the brake pedal to 2/3 its height before returning it to normal position. Press the brake pedal once every 15 seconds until you feel solid resistance to check whether the brake caliper pistons and brake pads sit correctly. Expel brake fluid from the reservoir before pouring in clean fluid up to the proper mark.
