  The first step to replace the A/C Accumulator requires recovering all refrigerant materials from the system. First remove the engine Coolant Reservoir followed by the air cleaner before removing the grille unit. The evaporator tube detachment process requires disconnecting it from the vehicle while maintaining the nuts and ferrules position on the evaporator tube. You need to detach the nuts on the A/C Accumulator before extracting the A/C Accumulator from its position on the evaporator tube. Place 525 viscosity refrigerant oil onto the o-rings prior to installation on the evaporator tube. After positioning the flow arrow of the A/C Accumulator towards the evaporator place it on the evaporator tube before fastening nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). After reinstalling the evaporator tube professionals need to recharge the a/c system then perform a leak test at the repaired components' fittings by using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). The final step includes putting back the grille and engine Coolant Reservoir followed by the air cleaner.

  Before setting the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 15-1697) between the condenser and expansion (orifice) tube you must recover refrigerant from the a/c system. Cut the marked section of condenser tube using a tubing cutter after marking it 20 mm (0.75 in) from the bend and another 50.8 mm (2 in) beyond. You should use a tubing cutter to cut the marked condenser tube section. Keep all metal burrs outside the tube space when you execute this process. Place all burrs from the condenser tube away before removing the A/C Accumulator's nuts, ferrules and o-rings. Install ferrules and nuts onto both sides of the condenser tube without adding the o-rings at present. Place ferrules on condenser tube with small inner end facing nuts while mounting the A/C Accumulator onto the tube with the flow arrow pointing toward the evaporator. Tighten the nuts on the accumulator by applying torque of 15 n.m (11 lb ft) while holding the condenser tube inside the accumulator. After securing the nuts on the A/C Accumulator reverse their removal to put on the o-rings to the condenser tube and reinstall the nuts back to the accumulator while tightening them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The last step involves reattaching the condenser tube to the condenser unit before conducting a/c system evacuation and recharging along with using the halogen leak detector(J39400-A) for fitting tests.
