How to replace the idler arm on GMC Savana 2500?

A mechanic should begin idler arm replacement work by supporting the vehicle at a suitable height. The idler arm to relay rod retaining nut should be removed before discarding it. The Ball Joint Remover tool (J 43631) should be used to disconnect the idler arm from the relay rod. The idler arm removal starts with removing frame mounting bolts from the idler arm before extracting it from the vehicle. Start by attaching the idler arm to the frame before placing the idler arm to frame mounting bolts which you should secure at 150 N.m (111 lb ft). Install the new idler arm to relay rod retaining nut by torquing it to 63 N.m (47 lb ft). Lower the vehicle for the check of wheel alignment as the last step.
