GMC Safari Hood Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on GMC Safari?
    A:
Replace the Hood Cable by using a suitable tool to disconnect it from the primary latch while pulling away the cable housing from the latch. The first step requires the detachment of cable fasteners on the radiator support followed by a careful grommet pull from the cowl to complete cable removal from the cowl. Progress by taking off the left cowl side trim panel then guide the cable into the cowl area so you can reach the screws that maintain the cable assembly to the cowl side panel. To install the cable run it through the cowl front and fasten it to the side panel using screws tightened to 2 nm (18 lb.in.). Reinstall the left cowl side trim panel followed by reversing the cable assembly through the cowl front until the grommet rests in place. Then route the cable to fasteners in the radiator support and use a suitable tool on the cable clip before connecting it with the primary latch. Confirm the correct functioning of the hood as the final step.
