GMC Envoy Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the power steering hose assembly on GMC Envoy?
    A:
The replacement process of a Power Steering Hose assembly must start by raising the vehicle and installing suitable safety stands. Install a drain pan beneath the vehicle before removing the Power Steering Hose assembly by disconnecting its retaining bolt from the power steering gear and removing it from the power steering gear. The replacement process begins by taking away both the power steering return hose and Power Steering Cooler hose from the Power Steering Cooler. Begin by lowering the motor vehicle and disconnecting the fuse block wiring harnesses followed by the removal of the fuse block and the battery tray. First detach the Power Steering Hose assembly bracket retaining bolt which is located near the wheel well before removing the strap from its mount point on the wheel well. Complete the Power Steering Hose assembly frame bracket removal by using retaining bolts. The front crossmember bracket mounting bolt must also be removed sequentially. The power steering pressure hose along with the Power Steering Cooler hose needs removal from the Power Steering Pump before extracting the Power Steering Hose assembly from the vehicle. The first step for installation involves putting the Power Steering Hose assembly back into place while connecting the Power Steering Cooler hose and power steering pressure hose to the Power Steering Pump before tightening it to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Install the Power Steering Hose assembly until it engages properly with both front crossmember bracket mounting bolt and frame brackets retaining bolts. Tighten each component to 10 nm (7 ft. Lbs.). The Power Steering Hose assembly bracket needs to be reattached to the wheel well while installing its retaining bolt that requires a torque of 10 nm (7 ft. Lbs.). Put back the fuse block and the battery tray and attach the fuse block cables. After raising the vehicle you should install the power steering return hose followed by the Power Steering Cooler hose onto the Power Steering Cooler. We will remove power steering gear oil seals from the power steering gear through use of j44586 power steering gear oil seal remover/installer device after we clean inlet and outlet ports free from contamination. The j44586 power steering gear oil seal remover/installer will be used to put in new oil seals which must be connected to the power steering gear assembly before tightening its retaining bolt to 12 nm (9 ft. Lbs.). After removing the drain pan underneath the vehicle one should lower the vehicle while performing a power steering system bleed.
