A/C Accumulator in GMC Envoy auto is an important component since it determines both the effectiveness of the A/C in addition to its survivability. Its main purpose is to clears dirt and any form of excess dampness that possibly harm the sub-components of the A/C system. This protection will help the product to give the optimal of its performance in the longest run. Usually made cylindrical in shape, the A/C Accumulator has ports for the flow of refrigerant by connecting to the condenser and expansion valve. Although the general description of Envoy does not mention differences of types or styles of A/C Receiver Drier depending on the model, the product is illustrated as playing a vital role in the climate control of the vehicle.

GMC Envoy A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install the A/C Accumulator to the A/C evaporator tube on GMC Envoy?
    A:
Begin installation of the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 15-1696) to the a/c Evaporator tube by removing the air cleaner. Mark the position 50 mm (2 in) from an Evaporator tube bend which is close to the expansion tube end before adding another 50.8 mm (2 in). Variables can install the A/C Accumulator (Adelco P/N 15-1696) to the a/c Evaporator tube between the condenser and Evaporator with a tubing cutter (J 39400-A) by cutting the tube at the marked position and cleaning burrs from the tube to prevent metal intrusion. The A/C Accumulator requires nut removal together with ferrules and o-rings at this point although o-ring installation is postponed until further instructions. Fit the ferrules end first into each Evaporator tube half followed by nuts which should have ferrules with small ends directed toward the nut. Use the A/C Accumulator to connect the Evaporator tube by facing the flow arrow toward the Evaporator while tightening the nuts against the accumulator to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Place the o-rings inside 525 viscosity refrigerant oil before installing them between the Evaporator tube halves. As the last step reinstall the nuts to the A/C Accumulator while tightening them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) and complete the process by evacuating and recharging the system followed by fitting leak detection with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) then reinstalling the air cleaner.
  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on GMC Envoy?
    A:
The first step to change the A/C Accumulator requires recovering the refrigerant through correct procedures. Before removing the grille always verify that all hoses and lines remain attached until the system fully discharges r134a to prevent safety risks. Begin by unscrewing and extracting the condenser hose bolt together with the condenser hose from the A/C Accumulator and then disassemble the evaporator tube bolt alongside the evaporator tube. The condenser hose assembly along with the evaporator tube requires installation of specific caps to stop moisture entry while also blocking oil leakage. Next turn all the bolts securing the A/C Accumulator bracket before removing both the A/C Accumulator assembly and its bracket while loosening the A/C Accumulator clamp bolt to extract the accumulator unit. The system requires the addition of pag oil during replacement of the A/C Accumulator. Place the A/C Accumulator bottle into the clamp without tightening it before installing new o-rings that require pag oil for internal circulation and 525 viscosity mineral oil for fitting threads and o-rings. Connect the A/C Accumulator bolts to their bracket and tighten the A/C Accumulator clamp bolt to 5 n.m (44 lb in). You must first disconnect the condenser hose to condenser cap and plug before putting in a fresh seal washer. The evaporator tube should be installed onto the A/C Accumulator where an evaporator tube bolt will secure it with a torque setting of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Proceed by attaching the condenser hose to the A/C Accumulator then visually tighten the condenser hose bolt to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Finish the process by evacuating and charging the a/c system while testing component fittings with halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) followed by grille reintegration.
