To replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), sensor first turn the engine OFF and disconnect the negative battery terminal, while being cautious with the battery disconnect precautions. Drain the coolant to below the level of the ECT sensor, then unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector and remove the ECT sensor with extreme care. If reinstallation of the original sensor or a new sensor without sealant, apply thread sealer (P/N 12346004 or equal). Use caution when working with the coolant sensor because it interferes with the operations of the fuel control system.
