The Hood Latch in car manufacturing particularly Chevrolet Tracker cars has an important role of locking the hood so as not to open when the car is in motion. This part is placed right below the front hood to ensure the engine, radiator unit or the battery part and other significant parts of the car are shielded. As years passed modes of Chevrolet Tracker may include variation in Hood Latch design though specific types or styles are not described. The main method stays the same: reliability and safety of the closed position when driving is the key goal of the primary mechanism.

Chevrolet Tracker Hood Latch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the hood latch on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
Start by elevating and sustaining the hood before changing its primary and secondary latch. The hood primary latch requires removal of 2 retaining bolts which secure it to the front upper panel before disconnecting the hood primary latch release cable from the latch. The latch must be extracted from the vehicle. During installation the hood primary latch release cable should be connected to the primary latch after which the latch needs to be mounted on the vehicle before tightening only the retaining bolts slightly. Correctly position the hood primary latch by aligning its striker shaft directly through the middle groove of the latch and making the hood parallel to the front fenders. Before putting the hood down you should tighten the six Hood Latch retaining bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in).
