When servicing the Camshaft position sensor, ensure you lift and supports the vehicle in an appropriate way. If available, take off the steering linkage shield. Release the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector, remove CMP sensor bolt, then remove CMP sensor. Check for wear, cracks, or leakage if the CMP sensor is not replacing. For installation, check the CMP sensor O-ring for wear or damage, and install a new O-ring by lubricating it with engine oil prior to installation. Mount the CMP sensor, being careful not to strip off the threads of the CMP sensor bolt. Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in), reconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector, reinstall the steering linkage shield if applicable, and finally lower the vehicle.
