- Q: How to replace the evaporator core in the auxiliary HVAC module on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?A:Before starting Evaporator core replacement in the auxiliary hvac module use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for any leaks. Remove the auxiliary hvac module from the vehicle as a first step then uninstall the air temperature actuator from the vehicle. The procedure begins by removing the downward-facing stud that rests between the Heater Core inlet and outlet pipes of the rear hvac module before gently peeling off the Heater Core pipe gasket from the module case during Heater Core pipe retainer removal. First detach the auxiliary hvac module lower cover followed by Heater Core clamp removal until you extract the Heater Core from the auxiliary hvac module. You should carefully take out the gasket which exists between the auxiliary hvac module and the air distributor duct so you can potentially reuse it. Remove fasteners to split the front case half from the back half after which you should extract the Evaporator core from the back case half while checking gaskets and seals for damage and replacing damaged components. To install the thermal expansion valve onto the new Evaporator core users must position the air distributor duct gasket correctly while installing the temperature door and Evaporator core seal inside the case. Fit the case halves together and reinsert the Heater Core inside the auxiliary hvac module before securing it with the Heater Core clamp while adding the auxiliary hvac module lower cover on top. Install the Heater Core pipe retainer followed by its gasket and then the stud between the Heater Core inlet and outlet located under the auxiliary hvac module after which install both the air temperature actuator and reattach the whole auxiliary hvac module to its position on the vehicle.
