To overhaul and assemble the Starter motor, start by installing insulation paper , outside insulator inner , insulator long & short side contact plate while terminal , terminal bolt, o-ring packing and outside insulator plate and wave washer to terminal 30 but don't tighten the nut at the same time. Next for terminal c, the inside insulator with the long and the short side ,contact plate ,terminal bolt and o-ring, outside insulator and wave washer should be installed, all the time refraining from tightening terminal nut to avoid tilting of contact plate nor cracking insulator. Squeeze the contact plates down to seat them in the solenoid assembly underneath with a wooden block knob 20x37x40 mm (0.79x1.46x1.57 in) using a hand press until they are firmly seated in the solenoid assembly, and then tighten the nuts to 17 n.m (12 lb ft). Clean the contact surfaces of the contact plates and plunger with a dry cloth and then mounting the solenoid plunger and end cover (nut to 2.5 N.m/23 lb in). Apply a very light coating of lubriplate lubricant gm p/n 1050109, or equivalent to the front Armature bearing, rear Armature bearing, and idler gear roller bearing before installing the Armature into the field frame and then the brush holder and connecting the four brushes. Pull a small screwdriver and hold the spring back in order to install the brush into the brush holder and attach the end cover to the field frame with a new o-ring and tighten the two screws into 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Lift the steel ball and place it to the clutch and drive assembly, next install the idler gear roller bearing, idler gear, clutch and drive assembly and return spring to the drive housing. Mount the drive housing to the solenoid assembly and bolt it on with two bolts, torquing it to 6 n.m ( 52 lb in), and mount the field frame to the solenoid assembly with a new o-ring, torquing the two through bolts to 6 n.m ( 52 lb in). Finally, connect the solenoid lead wire and nut to the solenoid assembly, tighten the nut to 6 n.m (52 lb in), and mount Starter motor to vehicle.
