Disabled sir controls should precede wheel replacement alongside turning the ignition switch to off position. First remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and draw an alignment mark on the Steering Wheel hub which should match the slash mark on the Steering Shaft. Before installation you should adjust the Steering Wheel nut to match the shaft's terminal position. The j 1859-a Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) combined with j 42578 Steering Wheel puller legs (J 42578) allows removal of the Steering Wheel from the Steering Shaft when placed onto the Steering Wheel. Before continuing detach the sir connector from the Steering Wheel then take the Steering Wheel out of the vehicle. Position the new Steering Wheel onto the Steering Column while routeing the sir connector through it then match the scribe mark to the Steering Shaft slash mark before putting in the Steering Wheel. Fasten the Steering Shaft nut to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.) after which reinstall the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before enabling the sir system. Check that Horn works properly alongside wheel steering operations including their control functions.
