How to replace the floor shift cable on Chevrolet Malibu?

One should start the floor Shift Cable replacement process by removing the console assembly. Use your hands to press all tabs on the Shift Cable until detaching it from both the control assembly and transaxle range switch lever. To remove the Shift Cable from the vehicle start by pressing both tabs that will release it from the bracket while also removing the grommet from the dash panel. The Shift Cable requires insertion into the dash panel pass-through after which you should press the cable into the hole to install the grommet correctly. Front the Shift Cable into the transmission bracket while making sure its tabs maintain a secure hold and after that snap the connection to the transmission range switch lever.
