Chevrolet Lumina A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on Chevrolet Lumina?
    A:
The replacement process for a condenser starts with air cleaner and duct assembly removal followed by refrigerant recovery. Start by taking away the Radiator before removing both the compressor hose nut and the liquid line nut from the condenser and placing the lines to the side. The o-ring seals on both the compressor and liquid lines must be discarded after condenser removal. Install the new condenser first using mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to lubricate the o-ring seal before application. Installation begins by placing new o-ring seals on the liquid and compressor lines before attaching the liquid line and nut at the condenser, tightening it to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Secure the condenser's compressor hose with its nut while applying 27 n.m (20 lb ft) torque. After reinstalling the Radiator, the system needs evacuation, recharging and leak checks. Reroute and reinstall the entire assembly of air cleaner and ductwork.
