How to Replace a Shift Cable for the Range Selector Lever on Chevrolet Equinox?

Before beginning the repair of the Shift Cable you must set the parking brake while ensuring the shift control range select lever remains in the park (P) position. The shift control cable needs to be detached from the transmission range selector lever before pressing the Shift Cable retainer clip tabs and pulling out the cable from the Shift Cable bracket. Unfasten the shift control lever knob and center trim bezel as well as console trim plate and right side console trim panel. Remove the Shift Cable by disconnection from the shift control range select lever pin at the same time as depressing the Shift Cable retainer clip tabs before taking out the cable from the shift control. Remove the Shift Cable grommet from the cowl while making note of Shift Cable route before taking the Shift Cable out of the vehicle. Before installation, use a park (P) position to place the shift control range select lever while you press the Shift Cable grommet into its pass-thru hole in the cowl. Secure first the Shift Cable to the shift control then position the Shift Cable onto the shift control range select lever pin. Replace the right side console trim along with its panel and center trim bezel and shift control lever knob. Combine the Shift Cable with the Shift Cable bracket while checking that the retaining tabs lock in place afterward join the Shift Cable with the transmission range selector lever. To complete the procedure adjust the Shift Cable then release the parking brake.
