The Spark Plug port adapter j 22794 and valve spring compressor j 38606 are necessary tools to perform the Valve Stem Oil Seal repair and replace both the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring. Insert the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the Spark Plug location before attaching an air hose to it after taking out the valve rocker arms and Spark Plug. Strike the valve stem lightly with a plastic face hammer to uncover the hardened varnish on the stem keys. With the valve spring compressor tool (J 38606) press the valve spring and take out the valve stem keys. Unload valve spring pressure and take out the valve spring compressor j 38606 while also removing valve spring cap valve spring oil seal and shim. Clean the valve seat and shims first before inserting the new Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim. Adjust their alignment on the valve guide to stop oil leakage and vehicle pollution problems. Place engine oil on both parts of the valve guide and stem oil seal before setting the stem oil seal onto the valve stem. Push the seal down until it touches the valve guide. Position the valve spring on valve spring compressor j 38606 before compressing it to mount the spring and key elements to the cylinder head. Coat the valve stem keys with grease while installation to retain them in position. Deadly use pressure from the compressor to install valves until keys fit into valve stem grooves before tapping valve ends with plastics to secure key placement. Detach the Spark Plug port adapter air supply through j 22794 and take out the part from the Spark Plug hole. A valve spring shim should be placed at 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) above 46.25 mm (1.82 inch) if spring installed height measures more than 46.25 mm (1.82 inch). After positioning the parts return the valve rocker assemblies and reinsert the Spark Plug.
