Chevrolet Cobalt Hood Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Release Hood Cable on Chevrolet Cobalt?
    A:
Open the hood to replace the Hood Cable through these steps: first separate and detach the cable from the hood then mark down its container route inside and outside the vehicle. The latch end of the cable requires a 2 m (7 ft) wire mounted with tape before proceeding to remove the left front carpet retainer from inside the vehicle. Two small flat-bladed tools should be used to loosen the retainer clip and move the handle rearward at the hood latch handle bracket. The handle may be removed by using pliers to place one end on the tab of the hood release lever base near the bracket and the other end on the rearward edge of the bracket. Squeeze the pliers and if necessary insert a flat-bladed tool in the slot. You will route the hood cable through the dashboard front while loosening the grommet with a flat-bladed tool. The feeder wire should be taped to the new cable end for pulling the cable into the engine compartment through the cowl grommet. Pass the hood primary latch release cable through the instrument panel opening, take off the feeder wire from the cable and attach the assembly to the bracket. Reapprove the front carpet retainer while you link the hood release cable to the latch before checking the hood cable operation and then shutting the hood.
