Chevrolet Cobalt A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on Chevrolet Cobalt?
    A:
You should remove the charged air cooler outlet pipe before changing your air conditioning condenser. Start by recovering all refrigerant before you lift the vehicle into position for support. Begin by detaching both the compressor hose and condenser tube from the condenser and then remove its bolts. Lower the condenser to separate the mounting tabs from the Radiator while also removing both Radiator side baffles. You should pour the stated amount of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil directly into the new condenser when installing it. Reinstall the right and left Radiator side baffles before inserting the condenser upward to join the upper mounting tabs into the Radiator position, adhering to fastener safety instructions. Fasten the condenser with bolts that you should tighten to 10 nm (88 lb in). Reconnect the compressor hose and tighten the bolt to 20 nm (15 lb ft) using a new seal washer. Repeat this procedure with the condenser tube after installing its corresponding seal washer. Put the vehicle back in its normal height before reconnecting the charged air cooler outlet pipe. As a last step evaporate all refrigerant from the system and perform a leak test on all fittings using the j 39400-a halogen leak detector.
