Chevrolet Classic Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on Chevrolet Classic?
    A:
The first steps in replacing an EVAP canister purge solenoid valve entail disconnecting the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve harness connector and removing the vacuum pipe and the purge pipe attached to the EVAP canister purge valve. Begin by taking off the EVAP canister purge valve and its bracket before disassembling the valve from the purge bracket. Check for carbon deposits at the ports of the EVAP canister purge valve. Place the EVAP canister purge valve onto the purge bracket and secure the valve to its bracket using a tight 8 N.m (71 lb-in torque). Reconnect the EVAP canister purge valve's vacuum pipes before attaching its purge pipe and harness connector.
